NBPOL is the largest producer of beef in Papua New Guinea. Our combined 20,000 head of cattle produce on average more than 1400 tonnes of beef per year. The quality of our beef reflects the free range environment in which our cattle are raised, with breeding stock spending several years grazing in pastures and plantations with additional supplemental feed to improve performance.

The completion of the Ramu Agriculture Industries Limited feedlot during 2009 allowed 1,000 cattle to be fed for 120 days prior to slaughter. The feedlot has enabled the operation to yield much better final carcass weights, averaging 245 kilograms cold dressed weight. Good efficiencies and standards in the abattoir combined with the feedlot have resulted in improved quality of the beef which in turn commanded better prices.
