Employment Opportunity – Oil Palm Cadets

New Britain Palm Oil Limited (a wholly owned subsidiary of the Sime Darby Group) is the leading producer of Certified Sustainable Palm Oil in the Pacific Islands managing over 101,000 hectares of oil palm, beef cattle and sugar across its operations in Papua New Guinea (PNG) and the Solomon Islands.

The company seeks to appoint self-reliant, resourceful and dedicated university graduates seeking an exciting career working in an expanding management team in Papua New Guinea.

The successful applicants will undergo a period of intensive specialist training before being placed on specific oil palm plantations or mills and must have all the following attributes:

  1. Formal Agriculture or Engineering Degree qualifications from recognised universities.
  2. Acquired a final university year GPA of 2.6 or above.
  3. Be fit and willing to work outdoors in a plantation environment or in an oil palm mill.
  4. Very good interpersonal and communications skills, both written and verbal.
  5. Be computer literate with intermediate level experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Access.

The package includes:

  1. A competitive annual salary.
  2. Three (3) weeks annual leave with airfares to and from the place of recruitment.

NBPOL is a wholly owned subsidiary of Sime Darby Plantation Bhd. The philanthropic arm of Sime Darby is known as Yayasan Sime Darby (YSD) http://www.yayasansimedarby.com

YSD began its international scholarship programme in Papua New Guinea in 2015, by offering promising students the chance to pursue tertiary education locally and in Malaysia. To date YSD has awarded scholarships to 21 PNG students.

Six new scholarships are now being offered. One will include a scholarship to an outstanding first year students at the PNG University of Technology (UNITECH) to pursue undergraduate studies at a top university in Malaysia for four years in the fields of mechanical or electrical engineering. The other five scholarships will be awarded to PNG students to pursue undergraduate and diploma studies at selected universities, including University of Natural Resources and Environment (UNRE), UNITECH, University of Papua New Guinea (UPNG) and Divine Word University, in the fields of agriculture, engineering and human resources.
