New Britain Palm Oil Ltd (NBPOL) assists the local community surrounding its operations through the New Britain Palm Oil Foundation. The Foundation was established in 1997 as a registered charity in Papua New Guinea and set up for the improvement of health and education and for the relief of poverty for the people in the country.
Since its inception, the NBPOL Foundation has supported local communities through donations and contributions to community based projects, as well as enhancements to education and health establishments in the single province of West New Britain. With the significant growth of the company in recent years, there was a need to broaden the remit of the Foundation and to widen its sphere of influence. In 2011, a fundamental overhaul of the governance structure was undertaken, a new blueprint was approved, and the Foundation now covers all our sites in PNG. The Foundation now focuses on meeting the needs of communities whilst seeking to address the priority areas set out in the UN Millennium Development Goals and PNG’s Vision 2050.
